Ladyhawke (Original Release)

Notes on the Genoa bootleg
This album was available on compact disc as a limited edition (of 2000) from Genoa Records of Italy.

This release has been confirmed non-official nor granted by Warner Brothers or Atlantic. It is indeed a bootleg.

However, the sound quality isn't too bad. I think this album already has a high degree of treble myself. The manufacturer/distributor list a false address, as verified indirectly by rabulias@netcom.com on the mailing list. Upon scanning the "Film Score Monthly" magazine, he found that a subscriber from Italy checked the address and found it to be bogus. Additionally, Steve Martin sent a postcard to that address which was returned-to-sender.

The liner cover consists of the LadyHawke album cover, i.e. black with Isabeau's face on top-center-right, above Isabeau- as-a-hawk perched on Phillipe's head. The back of the liner is the same as the back of jewel box, with Navarre riding a horse under the midday sun.

Inside the liner notes on the left are the track titles and credits as found on the album. The right side features the movie credits starting with "WARNER BROS. and TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX present...," and concluding with (c) 1985 Warner Bros. & Twentieth Century Fox. All Rights Reserved. RELASED BY WARNER BROS. A WARNER COMMUNICATIONS COMPANY" (misspelling of "released" is taken verbatim). The liner on the rear of the jewel box features both the track titles and movie credits along with the following at the bottom:

"Manufactured by Genoa Records Via Agazio 36C-7 16151 Genoa, Italy"

The spine/edge of the liner states: "LADYHAWKE" with a cata- log number of GRCD-1014. However, on the compact disc itself, under "Genoa", a flattened treble clef, and "Records," the catalog number is GRLE-CD1014. The rest of the CD has the title, and track listings. The ring of text along the edge of the CD (twice consecutively) states:

"All rights of the producer and of the owner of the work reproduced reserved. Unauthorized copying, hiring, lending, public performance and broadcasting of this record prohibited! Made in Italy. (c)1985 (p)1993".

On both the rear liner and the compact disc, the following text appears: Limited Edition [BOX] of 2,000". The empty [BOX] on the rear liner is written in with silver highlighter with the issue number (of 2000), and the [BOX] on the CD is purple and is also written with the issue number in silver highlighter.

La Sagrada Familia

From the start of this track:
In recent times, there is noone who could approach, at all, to Antonio Gaudi. He started a new cathedral in Barcelona - it is called La Sagrada Familia, or Holy Family... The sad thing is, they could try to finish it... but I don't think they ever can do it...

Let's Talk About Me

The following is a transcript of the words in the background. As always, there's plenty of room for disagreement!

Left ChannelRight Channel
Intro
Speaker: "Gentleman, the essence of the American military position presently, in all due respect to the Queen's government, is that the NATO allies have to present a military posture that is relevant to the core problems of what faces us all. Sure, you're going to realize the socialization and military intelligence and military posture that relates to the individual population and the press interpretation of such..."
[ungrateful snort].... "See, see, these people don't want to hear what I have to say... See, you're being image conscious... I want Alan to do the talking. Alan? Name a topic."
Alan: "Name a topic?"
Speaker: "Any topic, any topic."
Speaker: "Well... You must understand... the essence of Porcupinus Contravius, which is generally the North American Porcupine, which are friends, and they are friends, here in Europe, don't perhaps have the opportunity to visualize or duly seek in a hunting mode... is an animal that can directly assume a posture of defense through its natural vehicles. Everyone knows that a porcupine has a natural spinal region that is of critical nature to its offenders."
Break
Speaker: "At WGN we believe in the positive angle of the story...Hey Mom, Dad, what the hey, what the heck... Let's drive inbounds on the loop and get to the job, because we here in America believe in making it happen. OK, hey guys, go out to the ballgame... Mom, Dad, kids, what a great way to have a good time. Wrigley Field, 1:15 PM, let's get to those box office seats." Speaker: "We have now a couple of minutes after the hour of... the bewitching hour of 1 in the morning... and a good, good morning on the all-night special, Soft Rock 102.5 here in Brentwood... Boy, it's good to be here to volunteer the love... the LOVE!... unlike a lot of the great balladeers of today, particularly here in American radio."
