- I own an 83 GL with 106000K, and a 78 242 with 320000K. I maintain them myself, and appreciate good solid FAQ, as well as the other sevices you refer. For a Volvo lover like myself this is a great site, for a great car.

- Last year I couldn't tell a Volvo from a horse-drawn wagon, but now that I've bought a 1972 145E (because it was cheap and ran well) I find myself trying to 'name the series' when I'm commuting around the Bay Area. I've subscribed and look forward to learning more about diagnoses and repair. One question here - is there a book out there that has pictures of the various series over the years?

- Pretty neat. I just bought my first Volvo
on Thursday ($250 1984 244GL) from a charity
organization here in New Orleans. Took me
about 2 hours to get it to run. Still have
some more fuel system work to do. After
reading your site (and several others today)
I am going to go back and try to buy a 1982
244?? that they said had electrical problems.
Who knows what is wrong, but I can probably
get it even cheaper. I am surprised at the
avidness (is that a word?) of the Volvo owners.
You all seem to be obsessive-compulsive when
it comes to Volvos.

- Your FAQ section looks great for the do-it-yourselfer , glad to see the 240 wiring problems listed as this seems to be a real problem , we have done 4 harness replacements since the first of the year and are currently working on a mailer for 240 customers in our service files suggesting they have their cars inspected to avoid possible fire damage. Overall nice site , and would like to recommend a local restoration shop , Porter Svc. and Restoration , Keyser WV 304-788-5199 , I have known and worked with Mr. Porter for the last 16yrs. He specializes in british restoration however he does drive Volvos and has done a few 1800 s , this is a small two man shop that takes great pains to detail and produces some of the best work I have seen and having been in the import service and body repair business for 16yrs. myself I know what to look for , Mr. Porters work is without flaw !!!!
